No matter how much time you can give or where you’re based, we’d love to hear from you. By volunteering for Essex advocacy, you can make a real difference to the lives of people severely affected by mental illness.

Volunteer advocate (North and Mid Essex)

Hours per week: 4 - 6 Hours  

Closing Date: 30 August 2020 at 23:59pm

Informal Interviews: To be confirmed 

As a volunteer advocate you will work to defend people’s rights and interests and support their wishes to be heard; for them to be treated with dignity and have their views respected.

As a Volunteer Advocate you could support someone to:

  • Listen to their views and build trust and a confidential relationship
  • Find information so they can make choices and sort out problems
  • Empower them to voice their views
  • Speak on their behalf if they wish so
  • Support them to understand their rights and responsibilities
  • This role requires 4 to 6 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5pm

Volunteer Peer Facilitator (South and West Essex)

Hours per week: 4 Hours

Our advocates and advocacy groups work to defend people’s rights and interests and support their wishes to be heard; for them to be treated with dignity and have their views respected. 

You will be part of the whole Advocacy team, and in your role, you will be helping individuals in a group environment, to gain confidence and be empowered to make their voice heard on issues concerning their overall wellbeing.  

As a Group Coordinator you would be involved in setting up and coordinating peer support groups for individuals across the community.
